Cookie Policy

Version 2026-07-v2 · Last updated 5 July 2026
In short. Dojiq uses only a small number of strictly necessary and functional first-party cookies and browser-storage items, to keep you logged in and to remember basic preferences. We do not use advertising, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics cookies, and we do not sell your data or share it for anyone else’s advertising. This policy explains, in full, what we use and how you can control it, and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Introduction & scope

This Cookie Policy explains how the Dojiq service uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies when you visit our website or use the application. It describes what these technologies are, the specific items we set, why we set them, the legal basis on which we do so, how long they last, and how you can control or remove them.

The service is operated by deToon (the controller of the personal data described here); full identity and contact details are in the Privacy Policy. This Cookie Policy covers only the cookies and storage set in your browser by Dojiq. It does not cover cookies set by third parties on their own websites (for example, your broker, exchange, or our payment processor when you are on their pages), which are governed by those third parties’ own cookie and privacy policies.

2. What cookies & similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, your browser sends the cookie back, which lets the site recognise your session and remember certain information. Cookies are a standard part of how websites and web applications work.

“Similar technologies” include browser local storage and session storage, which let a site store small amounts of information in your browser in a comparable way, without using a traditional cookie file. Where this policy says “cookies”, it also means these similar storage technologies. Cookies and storage can be described along two dimensions:

  • Session versus persistent. A session item is deleted when you close your browser; a persistent item remains for a defined period or until you delete it.
  • First-party versus third-party. A first-party item is set by the site you are visiting (Dojiq); a third-party item is set by a different domain, often for tracking or advertising across sites. Everything Dojiq sets is first-party.

3. Why we use them

We use cookies and storage only for purposes that are necessary to provide the service you have requested, or that make the application function as you would expect. Specifically, we use them to:

  • keep you securely signed in as you move between pages, so you do not have to log in again on every request;
  • carry the limited, signed state that certain flows need in order to work, such as email verification during sign-up;
  • protect the security and integrity of your session and of the service; and
  • remember basic, non-tracking preferences so the application behaves the way you left it.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, to track you across other websites, or to sell or monetise your browsing.

4. The cookies & storage we use

The table below describes the categories of items we set. Exact names may change as the service evolves, but their character (strictly necessary, or non-tracking functional) will not change without an update to this policy.

ItemTypePurposeLifespan
Session cookieFirst-party, strictly necessary (signed)Keeps you securely logged in and maintains your authenticated session as you use the app. The service cannot function without it.Session / limited duration
Verification / pending cookieFirst-party, strictly necessary (signed)Carries limited, signed state during email verification and sign-up so the flow can complete safely.Short-lived (the flow only)
PreferencesFirst-party, functional (browser storage)Remembers non-essential interface preferences, such as a chosen accent or theme and tab or period selections, so the app looks and behaves as you left it. Does not track you.Persistent until you clear it

The signed cookies are protected against tampering: their contents are cryptographically signed so that they cannot be altered or forged by anyone who does not hold the server key. They are used for authentication and flow state, not for tracking.

5. What we do not use

For the avoidance of doubt, Dojiq does not use any of the following:

  • advertising or ad-targeting cookies;
  • cross-site or third-party tracking cookies;
  • third-party analytics or marketing pixels, tags, or beacons;
  • device fingerprinting or similar covert identification techniques; or
  • any cookie or storage used to profile you, to sell your data, or to share it for others’ advertising.

6. Third-party services

Some parts of the wider experience involve third parties who operate under their own cookie and privacy policies, not ours. In particular, when a payment is processed our payment provider handles that step on its own pages and systems, and your broker or exchange operates its own website and app. Any cookies those parties set are their responsibility and are governed by their policies, which you should review. The sub-processors we use to operate the service are listed in our Privacy Policy. Dojiq does not embed third-party advertising or tracking scripts in its own pages.

7. Legal basis & consent

Under the ePrivacy rules as implemented in Dutch and EU law, cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service that you have expressly requested are exempt from the requirement to obtain prior consent. The session and verification cookies described above fall into this category, because without them you could not log in or complete the flows you asked to use. Our non-tracking functional preferences are first-party storage that exists only to remember your own settings, and does not track you.

For the associated processing of any personal data, our legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional service, and, where relevant, the necessity of the cookie to perform the contract you have entered into by using the service. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (for example, optional analytics), we will request your consent in advance, provide a means to accept or decline, and update this policy accordingly.

8. Duration & retention

Session and verification cookies are short-lived: the session cookie lasts for your signed-in session or a limited duration, and the verification cookie lasts only for the duration of the relevant flow. Functional preference storage persists in your browser until you clear it or your browser removes it. We do not retain cookie contents beyond what is needed for the purposes above, and the associated personal-data retention is described in the Privacy Policy.

9. How to manage or refuse cookies

You are in control of cookies and browser storage, and you can manage them in several ways:

  • Log out. Logging out of Dojiq ends your session and clears the associated session state.
  • Browser settings. Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site data, and can be set to warn you before storing them. See your browser’s help pages for “cookies” and “site data”.
  • Clear site data. You can clear the stored data for our site specifically from your browser’s site-settings, which removes our functional preferences.

Please note that because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking or deleting them will log you out and will stop core parts of the service, such as staying signed in and completing sign-up or password-reset flows, from working. This is a consequence of the cookies being essential, not of any additional tracking, since we do not track you.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we change how the application works or if we introduce a new, non-essential technology. When we do, we will change the version identifier and the “last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes (in particular any that would require your consent), we will provide notice through the service and obtain consent where the law requires it.

11. Contact

If you have any question about our use of cookies, or about privacy generally, contact us at info.dojiq@gmail.com, which is our sole official email address; any message that appears to come from Dojiq or deToon from a different address is not from us and is not authorised.
